Just downloaded the trial version, but when I start it I get the screen with a little box saying "Thank you for evaluating PrintDisc Pro - please purchase"
trouble is I HAVEN'T evaluated it yet. It hasn't even started! |

| Perhaps I should have said I had just downloaded it from 3 different places and also tried it on 2 different machines. It simply doesn't work. |

Froggie,
Please tell me which operating system you are trying to run the program on.
I do not have access to any computers running Windows Vista. Therefore, it may be incompatible with Vista.
I just downloaded it and ran it from my work computer running WinXP. No problems... it says I have 31 days remaining.
The trial period starts ticking away the first time you run the EXE file. From your description, this probably is not be the problem.
Here is the direct link to the download from my site:
http://www.normediasolutions.com/printdisc/downloads/PrintDisc_Pro.zip
Sorry for the inconvenience,

Hi Norm - thanks for the reply. I am running
WIN XP Pro
200g HD
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
ATI Radeon Xpress 200
512mb Ram
Just downloaded from the link you gave me and exactly the same problem.
I've also tried the program on 2 other machines - one running WIN XP Home and the other running WIN 2000 Pro.
Frustrating because this is exactly the program I've been looking for. I took a snapshot of the 'error' but don't know how to upload it.
Basically I click on the 'exe' file. PrintDisc opens and IMMEDIATELY shows a small box saying "Thank you for evaluating PrintDisc Pro. Please register your copy for $9.95. Http://www.normediasolutions.com. OK"
The ONLY thing I can do is click on OK which takes me to another box asking for REGISTRATION details. I can then only exit.[/img] |

I notice that the program says "Drives are empty" on each occasion. I have tried them with disks in and also without. For info the drives on my XP Pro machine are:
TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552D (main drive)
i
NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A USB Device
Sorry for the high number of posts, but I think you need all info I can give. |

Froggie,
Sorry for not getting back to you last night. I took the night off from the computer to watch a movie and get some much needed sleep. I highly recommend Deja Vu starring Denzel Washington. Pretty cool concept... far fetched, but still cool.
Don't worry about having a disc in the drive, etc. The problems you are having are most likely the result of a limited access user account. When PrintDisc Pro starts up the first time, it needs to have administrative access privileges to do it's little registration shenanigans. If it receives any write privilege errors, it throws up the "Hey this fella is over the 31 day limit and has not paid for and registered the program message" that you explained in excellent detail.
Please log into your computer as the administrator, or with an account that has administrative privileges. Run the program one time to get the "You have 31 days remaining to try this program out" message at the bottom of the program's window.
You can then log out of your administrative account and log back in as you normally do. You should then be able to run the program for a month with any user account on your computer. By the way, if you do eventually register the program, you need to log with an administrative privileges account when you are entering your username and serial number, since it needs to write this info to your hard drive.
Please report back and tell me if this solves your "Evaluation period has expired" problem.
Thank You,

Hi again Norm
Regret to say no luck. I checked my settings and I am the Administrator. No-one else uses this machine. My account says "Administrator" with the word "limited" greyed out. Guest account is OFF.
Perhaps there's something in my PC setup blocking this. Can't think what however and I have no problems with other programs installed. Sorry to have wasted your time.
Brian
ps: Glad you enjoyed your film! I find that once I start on the computer, everything else seems to go to pot. |

Norm
Created a new Administrator (Brian). Same result.
I notice also that although the program is stated to be version 2.0 a look at the properties shows the file version as 10.1r11 - is this significant? |

Just wanted to let you all know that I downloaded the program from the direct link Norm gave earlier and the program seems to run fine.
I'm using a 1.7GHz Celeron CPU on an Intel motherboard with 512KB RAM running Windows 2000 Pro. |

Brian,
I am very sorry that my program will not work with your computer. You have some sort of protection setup on it that will not allow my program to write the registration/evaluation values to your computer.
Thank you for all the all the time you have spent attempting to solve the issue.
The version 10.1..... that you are seeing is referring to the version of Macromedia Director that I used to create the program.
Thanks Harp for downloading it and trying it out. Much appreciated. Make sure you feed it a bunch of your backup data CDs and DVDs. It is an awesome tool for finding that file that you forgot which disc you backed it up onto. Hopefully you give each of your data discs a meaningful name via Nero when you burn them. I name mine with the date of the backup... ex. 070729_BKP (This is the year, month, day.)
You can turn off the printing part of the program and just use it to catalog all your backup discs. That is how I personally use the program.

Hi Norm
Thanks very much for your reply. It's a great pity I can't get it to work - obviously something in my setup. Think I'll call it a day but just wanted to say thanks for your efforts.
Might try it again later after 'sorting out' my PC.
Regards, Brian |
